Call of Duty: MW3 and Warzone Season 5 Reloaded Update Patch Notes Revealed (2024)

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone received a major update at 9am PT on August 21. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was released on November 10, 2023, boasting a massive file size of over 200GB due to the fact that Warzone was also included as a mandatory installation. However, recent changes to how the Call of Duty HQ app works have made this problem a thing of the past.

Season 5 Reloaded is here, bringing with it multiple new game modes, maps, operators, weapons, and more. The update also changes how the game is installed, with major upgrades coming to the Call of Duty HQ app. Warzone is now no longer a mandatory download for Modern Warfare 3, drastically reducing the amount of space required to install the game. More changes to how the app functions are expected later this year

An update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone was released on August 21, marking the beginning of Season 5 Reloaded and bringing tons of new content. The update introduces a final story mission for the game's Zombies mode that rewards fans with a cinematic conclusion, and two new weapons have been added, called the Spear and Torque 35. The Spear melee weapon and the Torque 35 compound bow both require players to complete challenges introduced in the new update in order to unlock them. This season also includes the return of the fan-favorite Cyber Attack game mode, which hasn’t been seen since 2019’s Modern Warfare.

Season 5 Reloaded Brings Plenty of Fresh Content

The Season 5 Reloaded update for Call of Duty also brings a new map variant of Stash House called Ink House, a 6v6 map with cel-shading to bring a comic book-like feel to the battles fought within it. New game modes are also included, like Fishfection, a cat-and-mouse infection-based game mode where eliminated players become fish, while cat players need to survive until time ends. Another game mode, called Paintball, is also being added, in which all weapons are capable of one-shot kills.

This season marks the beginning of a series of changes being made to Call of Duty install sizes, with Black Ops 6 set to release in a much smaller package than Modern Warfare 3. Call of Duty HQ will also be receiving an update in October that makes the UI easier to navigate. Activision has stated its intentions to continue optimizing file sizes and the Call of Duty HQ app as time goes on.

Paintball weapons and ammunition with enhanced sliding movements. Defeat the enemy team. All weapons are 1 shot kills.

Defuse or Destroy

Defend or Destroy the objective. No respawning.

Cyber Attack

Back by popular demand. Retrieve the EMP device and plant it near the enemy’s Data Center.

New Weapons

Torque 35 (Launcher, Week 5 Challenges)

A combat-ready compound bow with a 60lbs draw weight capable of taking down large prey. Certain types of arrows are retrievable after being fired.

Spear (Melee, Battle Pass)

Channel your inner spartan with this razor-sharp, serrated spear. This weapon boosts melee reach and can be thrown at enemies.

New Aftermarket Parts

JAK Deathmarch (BAL-27 Assault Rifle, Week 6 Challenges)

This aftermarket part replaces standard ammo with high-voltage power cells and the barrel with a photonic scatter barrel. Fire a spread of lethal laser blasts that take down enemies at short range.

JAK Devastators (Reclaimer 18 Shotgun, Week 7 Challenges)

Dual-wield Reclaimer 18 shotguns and become a mobile artillery barrage with this aftermarket part. Accuracy and recoil control are minimal, but destruction is maximized.

Gameplay Changes

• Elite Contracts New System
  • Elite contracts are an evolution of the classic contract system, offering a greater challenge for a greater reward.
  • Players can expect the same objectives with a considerable reduction (35%) in time to complete them.
  • In addition to normal contract rewards, they also drop:
    • $1,500 per player
    • 80% more experience
    • An Elite Cache containing one of the following
      • Foresight Killstreak
      • Advanced UAV Killstreak

  • This new public event spawns 2 large waves of Advanced UAVs over highly populated areas revealing anyone in their path.
